Survive a ete une superbe aventure qui commence a peine pour vous mais qui represente une paire d’annees de travail avec mon equipe. Survive est plus qu’une chanson ou un “titre” c’est des bouts de vies, des moments de vecu avec d’autres personnes. Un cadeau a tout mes fans qui ont eu la patience d’attendre que la magie opere en studio! Merci!

Survive was a great adventure that is just starting for you guys, it really  started a couple of years ago for my team and I. Survive is more that just a track, it represents pieces of life put together, experiences shared with many different people. It is a gift to you my fans that had the patience to wait for the magic to operate in my studio. Thank you.

Pour ceux qu’ils ne le savent pas deja je viens juste d’arriver au Brésil, un temps superbe a Brasilia ou je joue ce soir. So a few months ago I found this powerful speech from Severn Suzuki on Youtube dating back from 1992. Severn was only 12 and yet her speech deeply touched me. I consider this speech to be amongst the most powerful speech ever made, an environmental revolution comparable to the “I had a dream” from Dr. Martin Luther King jr. Mr Elle and I had composed this music track for the new album, but could not figure out how we would bring it to maturity. In one afternoon I started working with my team, we got in touch with Severn Suzuki with the help of Celine Cousteau the grand daughter of Jacques. And things just fell into places. Synchronicity one could say!

Severn was amazing. Although in the middle of having a baby she managed to send a quick note to us saying she was honored to have me mix a track for the speech. I thought I was supposed to be the one honored to score such a beautiful speech.

I transformed her speech a tad by cutting into it and mixing it with the music.What she said back in 1992 is even more relevant today as time is of the essence on our troubled planet. The “It’s not the end of the world” is a call to all of us to believe in our future and the power we have to change things for the  better. I am not an environmental leader, just a music producer and artist but I believe in a better future. Part of the proceeds for this track will be donated to the David Suzuki  Foundation (Severn’s Father). He is a fabulous environmental leader and very inspiring one (some of you might have seen him in the 11th hour directed by Leonardo di Caprio).

I got asked on several interviews why all my songs are in English. Well, the answer is easy…if you look at my tour dates this year I am all over Europe and English is my best bet to carry internationaly the messages I want to communicate in my songs. I think of the songs I produce as stories I want to share with the public. Of course I love to see people having a blast on the dance floor, and I enjoy mixing live (studio can be a tad too isolated sometimes!), but what I really value is the message,the story behind. My Album “Wash My World” was really somewhat like a book with songs, with “chapters” like No Stress and Wash My World. The world we live in is surrounded by stress, I feel it around me all the time! Hence people need to get down on a dance floor. It is a somewhat primal and tribal, but a  thing we all need to do to get rid of ambient stress!

As for the song Wash My World, it is a fun way to communicate an important message . If we do not do anything to preserve the environment we live in, we will destroy our planet, kill many species before we eventually disappear. Now the good news is that many non profit and governmental agencies in the world are finally waking up, as a DJ and music producer my contribution was to carry the message through Wash My world.

The next story? well my next album I guess!
